Tom Banner’s Low Tide EP finds its pulse in detail

On ‘Is It Love?’, Tom Banner leans into a kind of patient tension—the track barely raises its voice, but the low-end pull and slow melodic drift keep the floor locked tight. That discipline defines the Low Tide EP, where the real interest comes from what’s held back.

The record sidesteps the pressure to deliver an obvious peak-time statement. Instead it works the in-between spaces: a delayed chord change, a hi-hat pattern that shifts a fraction late, a sense of warmth that builds without shouting. It’s music for DJs who read the room, not just the clock.

Production-wise, the low end is full but not pushy, allowing the melodic elements to stay lightweight and open. The result is a release built for longer arcs, where the groove is steady enough to carry a set and detailed enough to reward a close listen.
