Dance Music Archive’s First Birthday: Project House Leeds Party Announced

Dance Music Archive (DMA) marks one year of its daytime warehouse parties with a special event on 5th April at Project House, Leeds. Known for documenting 35 years of UK dance culture, DMA brings its unique format to the dancefloor, just like its Kisstory radio show hosted by Andi Durrant. DJs will play era-specific sets from 1990-2005, bringing back forgotten classics, bootlegs, remixes, and underground anthems.

The 5-11pm event is more than just a party. It’s a musical journey, moving through time as each DJ soundtracks their chosen period. The lineup stays under wraps, keeping the focus purely on the music. Outside, attendees can enjoy food from independent vendors while soaking in the vibrant, inclusive atmosphere. Tickets are available for £25 + bf via Dance Music Archive.

DMA began as a pandemic project when Andi Durrant set out to organise his vast collection of DJ sets, flyers, magazine scans, and rare recordings. This archive grew into Dancemusicarchive.com, a detailed year-by-year history of dance music from the 1980s to the 2010s, packed with exclusive mixes, festival broadcasts, and lost footage.

The DMA radio show on Kisstory and Kiss Dance has become a go-to for dance music lovers. Every episode, Durrant uncovers deep cuts, telling the stories behind tracks that helped shape the scene. With over 25 years in the industry, from Galaxy and Capital FM to international DJ sets and 130+ productions, his knowledge is unmatched.

The anniversary event will be authentic, high-energy, and deeply curated. It’s not just a retrospective; it’s a living celebration of club culture. Expect an engaged crowd, minimal phone distractions, and the best of Leeds’ independent food scene, featuring Twisted Kitchen and The Otley Burger Company.

Those looking to stay the night can book at The Queens Hotel Leeds with the code “DANCE” for 30% off rooms.
