Bill Spice lets the summer in on Second (Summer of Love) EP

There’s a looseness to Second (Summer of Love) EP that feels less like a statement and more like a season settling in. Bill Spice builds the four tracks around warm-weather house moods, pulling from early UK rave memories without ever sounding like a history lesson. The result is a record that prioritises feeling over flash, letting each synth line and dub echo find its own space.

Across the EP, deep house melodies glide against subtle acid lines, while Balearic touches and a patient dub weight keep the energy from tipping into full peak-time. Midsummer Sunrise and Heatwaves open with a brighter, groove-led charge, but even at their most driving, the tracks leave room to breathe.

Acid House in the Countryside lands as a late-day highlight, where a wandering 303 line meets a groove that feels more reflective than frantic. It’s the kind of track that works as well on a humid afternoon as it does in a darkened club, balancing dancefloor utility with headphone detail.

There’s a quiet confidence in how the EP filters nostalgia through a cleaner, modern lens—a quality that’s drawn comparisons to Metro Area’s more understated moments. By the time Midsummer Sunset drifts into view, the record has fully settled into its own unhurried pace. It never forces the summer theme, but the warmth is unmistakable.
