Cydnee with a C fuses K-Pop and D’n’B on new single ‘Spend It’

The Atlanta-raised rapper turned drum ‘n’ bass artist drops her K-Pop-inspired ‘POV’ EP in April, kicking off with this new single, ‘Spend It’

Cydnee with a C fuses rap/R&B roots with K-pop-inspired drum and bass on her new single, ‘Spend It’, dropping Friday, 28th February via TH3RD BRAIN Records. Following January’s single ‘At Night’, the track offers a fresh glimpse of Cydnee’s upcoming POV EP, set for release this April.

‘Spend It’ is the latest offering of Cydnee’s K-pop-tinged liquid drum ’n’ bass sound, previously showcased on her 2023 EP Confessions Of A Fangirl, which saw her lean into Jersey Club and R&B sounds, too. On ‘Spend It’, she strips things back with airy vocals gliding over crisp D‘n’B drums and rich, velvety pads. Lyrically, it embraces the thrill of reckless indulgence—“Spend it like my birthday, it just always come back”—capturing a carefree, live-in-the-moment attitude, while lines like “Just because your pockets empty, doesn’t mean you can’t spend” celebrate impulse and abundance, wrapped in Cydnee’s smooth delivery.

Like “if PinkPantheress and Doja Cat had a songchild” (Steve Cardigan), Atlanta-raised, LA-based Cydnee with a C tells a unique story. Fluent in Korean and heavily inspired by K-pop, she made her name in Atlanta’s rap and R&B scene, going on to feature twice on Trippie Redd’s acclaimed 2017 album, A Love Letter To You 2, on the tracks ‘Feel Good’ (20M streams) and ‘Back Of My Mind’ (17M streams). Now,  redefining the intersection of alt-pop, R&B, and liquid drum and bass with her signature blend of glitched-out, sugar-sweet vocals and hypnotic bass-driven production, she has carved out a unique space in the dance-pop world—one deeply influenced by her love for K-pop and her background in R&B and rap. Cydnee’s aforementioned debut project, Confessions of a Fangirl, for example, is a passionate ode to fandom culture surpassing 3 million streams and earning praise from Paper, Nylon, and Bandcamp for its striking approach to drum ‘n’ bass.

With her upcoming six-track project, POV, set for release on 25th April, Cydnee continues to evolve. Led by singles like ‘At Night,’ – which received support from BBC Radio 1Xtra – ‘Love You Down,’ and, of course, ‘Spend It,’ the project explores themes of love, longing, and late-night introspection, delivering what Sniffers describes as her “most vibrant and magnetic form.” The rollout has been marked by innovative fan engagement strategies, including a surprise LA pop-up show announced via a viral collaboration with music curator Steve Cardigan, who referred to Cydnee as an artist the “the US music industry has been waiting for”, following in the footsteps of artists like Kenya Grace and PinkPantheress in the UK.

As she gears up for major events in LA, New York, London, and Seoul, Cydnee is cementing her status as a rising force in the global drum and bass scene. With exclusive merch drops, behind-the-scenes content, and immersive fan experiences, Cydnee with a C is set to further establish her as a boundary-pushing artist—one who transforms fandom into an art form all on its own.

‘Spend It’, the second single from Cydnee with a C’s forthcoming POV EP, drops this Friday, offering a fresh preview ahead of the full six-track release on April 25th.
