The Berlin artist’s breakneck new single is the next from her upcoming mixtape, ‘Cringey Core’, due out in March
Berlin-based DJ Cringey is back with her hectic new single, ‘Heartbreak Duett,’ with vocalist Sky Leon. It drops on February 14th, ahead of the release of Cringey’s hotly anticipated mixtape, Cringey Core, arriving in March.
Hand-welded for a distant sci-fi future, ‘Heartbreak Duett’ is a high-octane, genre-blurring weapon built for the club. Fusing techno, gabber, and hardcore with a hyperpop edge, its industrial intensity hits hard. Sky Leon’s rich vocals—like something from a death metal chorus—glide through an ethereal breakdown before the track crashes into a relentless drop, propelling listeners into hyperspeed.
The track was produced by acclaimed hyperpop producer DJ Kirby, one-half of duos Blue Hawaii and Das Beat. Blue Hawaii has been tapped up by former Friday star-turned-hyper pop sensation Rebecca Black for her 19-date Salvation Tour. The tour kicks off in North America in March before heading to Europe, with a stop in London on March 20th.
Dropping alongside ‘Heartbreak Duett’ on the 14th will be a music video, directed by acclaimed director Ioannes Papadakis has created a music video, set to premiere alongside the single on February 14th.
The track follows November’s similarly genre-bending single, ‘Contrast’ (Music video HERE). Featuring fellow hyper-pop artist Fanny, ‘Contrast’ bursts with gritty, grungey techno energy as the duo trade vocals, rapping and singing in German and English. Both tracks feature on the forthcoming mixtape, Cringey Core, releasing on March 28th.
On the forthcoming mixtape, DJ Cringey says, “Cringey Core to me is about raw emotion, f*cked up nights and heavy beats. I wanted to create a tape that reflects the messiness and fluidity of heartbreak in Berlin, the restlessness of trying to figure it all out.”
