Why ‘Aren’s Prelude’ marks a new creative era for Mistier

US-based, electronic music collective Mistier has released ‘Melodic Frequencies 009: Aren’s Prelude’, a creative collaboration between Andre Mistier (music director, writer, creative director), Allison Harrell Mistier (visual/creative director, writer, character designer) and renowned animator Jeremy Nixon of Nixon Animation. For the first time, the popular DJ mix series has evolved into a fully animated, hour-long cinematic experience, soundtracked by cutting-edge melodic house and electronic grooves. Watch it exclusively on Mistier’s YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@MistierMusic.

This is more than a DJ mix; it’s a first look inside Borderless Magnitudes, a universe where every track becomes a scene, every transition a new emotion, and every visual a window into something larger. ‘Melodic Frequencies 009’ introduces Aren, an anime-styled character on a cosmic journey to find connection, love, and meaning across surreal, ever-shifting landscapes.

Soundtracked by the latest, high-quality melodic house and electronic grooves, this is music and art designed for deep listening and immersive viewing. Whether through headphones on a solo expedition or with friends, projected onto a big screen as the night unfolds into something more mind-expanding, the audio-visual experience sparks questions and fires the imagination. The hour-long mix provides time and space to relax into a place where the boundaries between sound, vision, and consciousness dissolve as the viewer joins Aren on his odyssey.

Jeremy Nixon brings his signature style to Mistier’s vision; a fusion of fluid character animation and abstract, consciousness-expanding visuals that has seen him in demand with the likes of Netflix and Amazon. This is not AI-generated content, it’s hand-created animation with thought and meaning that evolves as Aren’s journey continues.

Nixon explains, “Mistier is trying to communicate huge, somewhat abstract ideas of love, connection, and the cosmic. Animation is the only way you can visualise such heady concepts in a digestible way.”

Each of the 14 tracks – including Mistier originals ‘Modern Sanctuary’, ‘Everyone (We All Need Love)’, and ‘The Spark’, alongside cuts from Innellea, Cristoph, Vintage Culture, and more – becomes a moment in Aren’s travels as he moves with a mysterious purpose through euphoric peaks and introspective valleys.

This is the next step in Mistier’s mission to create connection through music and art in a way that both unifies and inspires. Future episodes will see further collaboration as the Borderless Magnitudes universe expands and more characters are introduced, all set to an uplifting soundtrack of the best new electronic music.

As Mistier explain, “This is a new kind of story. Each song, each visual, is a step on Aren’s journey to find connection, love, and meaning in a universe that’s both familiar and fantastical. This is the first glimpse of a larger world – one where music and animation merge to create something wholly original.”

In a time of cut-and-paste, derivative creativity, Mistier invite people to experience something different.
