In an era where live events are becoming increasingly immersive and experience-driven, Andre Beekmans of The Art of Light is emerging as one of the rising creative minds helping shape the future of show production and visual design.
Combining creativity, technology, music, and technical execution, Beekmans specializes in building large-scale live experiences that blend lighting, visuals, effects, stage production, and storytelling into one cohesive audience journey. Through The Art of Light, his work focuses on transforming concepts into emotional, high-impact moments that resonate far beyond the performance itself.
From a young age, Beekmans found himself inspired by entertainment technology and the mechanics behind live productions. Watching concerts, touring shows, and large-scale events sparked an early fascination with how production elements could completely transform the energy of a room.
“I was always more interested in the production side of events,” Beekmans explains. “Over the years, that passion evolved into wanting to create experiences that people genuinely remember.”
Over the past decade, Beekmans has contributed to a growing list of internationally recognized productions, artists, and live entertainment experiences through both his independent work and The Art of Light.
Among the standout projects is his long-running involvement with Afrojack, where Beekmans served as Light Designer from 2011 through 2016, with his designs continuing to remain part of the production today through The Art of Light. The current touring team includes Light Supervisor Tom Pietermans and Light Operator Siem van Alphen, continuing the visual direction originally created by Beekmans.
Beekmans was also part of the production team behind Electric Zoo New York from 2015 through 2018, serving as both Light Designer and Operator during one of the festival’s most influential eras.
More recently, The Art of Light has been involved in major international touring productions including PlayStation: The Concert World Tour, where Beekmans serves as Light Designer & Operator alongside Light Supervisor Tom Pietermans. The large-scale live production merges music, gaming culture, immersive visuals, and orchestral performance into one cinematic experience.
The company is also currently involved with The Witcher in Concert in Boston and internationally, with Beekmans serving as Light Designer & Operator alongside Light Director Kasper Dijksterhuis.
In addition, Beekmans and The Art of Light recently completed another year at EDC Las Vegas, where the team handled lighting design and operation for the iconic Cosmic Meadow stage — a role they have maintained for nearly a decade. The project included Beekmans as Light Designer and Tom Pietermans as Light Supervisor.
For Beekmans, live production is not simply about visuals or technology — it’s about emotional connection.
“It’s taking a vision or brand and elevating it to another dimension through lights, visuals, effects, audio, and every creative element possible,” he says. “The audience should feel fully immersed.”
As global demand for innovative live experiences continues to rise, The Art of Light remains committed to expanding its creative reach through new collaborations, evolving technologies, and ambitious productions designed to leave lasting impressions.
