Itro & Elvii Unleash Powerful New Drum & Bass Collaboration ‘Backfire’

Make Your Era continues its run of standout vocal releases with ‘Backfire’, the new collaboration from Itro and Elvii, arriving on 5th June 2026. Combining cinematic atmosphere with heavyweight Drum & Bass foundations, the record delivers a distinctly current sound designed to connect equally across club systems, festival stages and streaming platforms. Opening with a huge, futuristic sense of scale, ‘Backfire’ wastes little time in establishing its identity. Expansive atmospherics and mounting tension gradually give way to rolling drums, gritty electronic textures and potent low-end movement. While firmly rooted in modern dancefloor Drum & Bass, subtle shades of Jump Up and Neuro influence appear throughout, adding intensity and edge without losing the track’s wider appeal.

The contrast between harder moments and more dreamy melodic elements gives the release its character. There is a constant push and pull between emotion and impact, allowing the track to move naturally between heads-down energy and more uplifting, vocal-driven moments. It feels equally suited to peak-time dancefloors and repeat listens away from the club environment.

At the centre of the record sits Elvii’s vocal performance, bringing an emotional thread that cuts through the production and gives the track additional depth. Built around themes of consequences, truth and personal reflection, the songwriting adds another layer to a record that already feels immediate from a musical perspective.

The collaboration itself began through a direct message after Elvii discovered Itro’s evolving Drum & Bass output online and recognised a natural crossover between their styles. That creative chemistry quickly became apparent as the record developed, evolving through multiple versions before arriving at its final form.

For Amsterdam-based producer Itro, ‘Backfire’ continues a journey that has seen him evolve from House and Future Bass into Drum & Bass territory while maintaining his instinct for melody and uplifting musicality. With releases on labels including Liquicity and NCS and performances at Liquicity Festival, he has built a catalogue shaped by experimentation and progression.

Elvii continues to establish herself as a vocalist capable of bringing both energy and emotional weight into high-tempo electronic music. With a commanding presence and instinctive songwriting approach, she adds a human dimension that gives the collaboration a natural balance.

The release also continues Make Your Era’s artist-first vision under Vibe Chemistry, creating space for records that bring personality and storytelling into contemporary Drum & Bass while allowing developing artists to carve out their own identity.
