ESSIRAY Channels Reinvention Into New Single ‘Make It Happen’

Irish singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist ESSIRAY releases her new single Make It Happen on 31st March, marking the next chapter for Ireland’s most talked-about emerging artist. On the new single, the former opera singer-turned-electronic-pop performer demonstrates her rare talent as she continues to build momentum following a slew of notable acclaim from District Magazine, RTÉ 2FM, Hot Press, and more.

The Dublin-born, Paris-residing ESSIRAY is undoubtedly a unique talent. Her sound blends classic pop songwriting with underground influences of UKG, jungle, and drum and bass, with live instrumentation, and the technical capabilities and emotional depth of a classically trained vocalist.

Her journey began at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, before completing a master’s degree in Popular Music Practice at BIMM, specialising in composition. Years of piano training and teaching further shaped her musicianship and technical grounding.

After six years performing at iconic venues, including Dublin’s National Concert Hall, a vocal injury permanently changed her voice. Forced to rebuild, ESSIRAY turned to production, songwriting, and electronic experimentation. That reinvention became her signature: a voice used not only for melody, but as an instrument for texture, harmony, and atmosphere.

Since her debut, ESSIRAY has been named The Future of Irish Music by District Magazine, selected as an RTÉ 2FM Rising Artist 2025, featured in Hot Press Hot For 2024, and tipped by tastemaker Nialler9. Her releases, including Lose You, Love Type, and Let’s Go Driving, received national airplay support from RTÉ, while follow-up Floating Up earned recognition from Notion.

Drawing inspiration from FKA twigs, Confidence Man, Catching Cairo, PinkPantheress, and Paradis, ESSIRAY’s energetic and emotive live shows have taken her to stages at top Irish festivals including Electric Picnic, Forbidden Fruit and Beyond the Pale, and seen her perform in prestigious support slots for Moonchild Sanelly, Miya Folick and GoldFish.

With new single Make It Happen, ESSIRAY explores a moment of personal realisation, pairing jungle-tinged rhythms with acoustic bass and layered harmonies. Her emotionally driven lyrics centre on having the self-belief to make things happen for yourself. Make It Happen lands as the first in a run of innovative releases slated from the ESSIRAY studio throughout 2026, as she continues to carve out her own lane in electronic pop.
