“Different to anything you’ve heard” from Zdot and JC Stormz, ‘Time Or Favours’ combines “the energy of dance music with rap’s storytelling”

Legendary UK producer Zdot—known for his work with Stormzy, Bugzy Malone and Krept & Konan—teams up with Leeds rapper JC Stormz for their first release of 2025. The new single, ‘Time Or Favours’, drops January 31st via Bankroll Records, marking the start of an exciting new chapter in their sound and direction.
The pair, who collaborated on JC’s drum ‘n’ bass-focused Papes EP last year, veer into a fresh house-oriented sound on ‘Time Or Favours’. Producer Zdot goes deep with subtle chord stabs, a driving bassline and shuffling 4×4 house drums. JC Stormz raps about building from the ground up, making moves, and staying patient, dropping the incredibly catchy chorus, “I wanna do all the things outrageous… I ain’t giving out time or favours” — a certified earworm for fans.
The track is “the perfect way to start 2025,” says JC Stormz, as it “encapsulates where I am right now both musically and personally.” Blending house and rap, ‘Time Or Favours’ delivers “an energy that’s both fresh and raw,” reflecting the hustle, grind, and tough decisions shaping his journey. The driving beat mirrors the urgency of making things happen, while reflective lines such as “I open the board and I’m moving pieces” showcase the strategy behind success.
This new sound “feels extra special and different to anything you’ve heard from us before,” says Zdot. “Focusing on how the music makes the listener feel has been at the forefront of the creative process, mixing emotive chords and riffs with house beats and direct and catchy raps — it feels like a sound we’ll be on a journey with for a long time.”
JC Stormz adds: “The fusion of house and rap was deliberate, We set out to create a track that energises both the body and the mind. The track is set to be followed by an accompanying music video, directed by acclaimed LA filmmaker Thor Wixom, who’s worked with the likes of Cardi B, DJ Khaled, Chris Brown and Katy Perry, and amassed over seven billion views.
